Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus type II has become a public health problem and is an important cause of death, illness and disability in the world. Success in treating Diabetes Mellitus type II doesn’t only depend on DM sufferers but also depends on the role of family and health workers such as nurses and doctors. The purpose of this study was to determine family support and the role of nurses with compliance to control blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus type II at Puskesmas Bernung, Pesawaran. This type of research is a quantitative research design using a cross-sectional design. The number of samples in this study were 35 respondents. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The subjects of this study were patients with diabetes mellitus who visited the Puskesmas Bernung, Pesawaran in 2020. The instruments used were a family support questionnaire sheet, a control compliance questionnaire, a nurse role questionnaire. Statistical test used chi square test. The results obtained are that there is a relationship between family support and the role of nurses with compliance with blood sugar control in Diabetes Mellitus type II patients at Puskesmas Bernung, Pesawaran in 2020 with p-value = 0.002 (family support) and p-value = 0.001 (Nurse role) . It is expected to motivate and support families with high blood sugar levels to comply with the rules for controlling blood sugar levels so that it can have a positive impact on family members with diabetes mellitus.
